Last week, I had the opportunity to present at the GSMA Middle East and North Africa Policy Group meeting in Cairo. The MENA region’s diversity was on full display: while some networks are leading the way in 5G deployment, others are just beginning their 5G journey. What stood out is how data traffic per connection in MENA has now surpassed the global average, a strong signal of the region’s accelerating digital demand. We also discussed the growing role of satellite connectivity, especially for reaching remote and underserved communities.
