Key Milestone for MEF’s SASE Certification Program

MEF announced a key milestone in its Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) certification program. The initial certifications under the program’s SD-WAN module have been awarded to Broadcom, Fortinet, and Versa, with Palo Alto Networks expected to follow shortly. These certifications validate the effectiveness of these companies’ SD-WAN products, marking an important step towards full SASE certification, which also includes Security Service Edge (SSE) and Zero Trust modules. The SASE certification program is now open to all MEF technology and service provider members, providing a structured pathway to ensure compliance with industry standards and deliver reliable, secure access solutions.

The certification program, developed in partnership with CyberRatings.org, is designed to instill confidence in the cybersecurity market by providing transparent, standards-based validation of SASE solutions. Technology providers undergo rigorous testing to meet MEF’s SD-WAN (MEF 70.1) standard, with the full SASE certification expected to be available in Q4 2024. This ongoing testing model allows providers to enhance their certification scores over time, ensuring that their offerings meet the evolving needs of enterprises in the digital transformation era.

• SD-WAN certifications awarded to Broadcom, Fortinet, and Versa; Palo Alto Networks expected to follow.

• SASE certification program includes three modules: SD-WAN, Security Service Edge (SSE), and Zero Trust.

• Certification ensures compliance with MEF standards, enhancing market confidence in SASE solutions.

“The first SD-WAN certifications achieved under our SASE program mark a significant milestone, empowering enterprises to confidently adopt secure and reliable access solutions as they accelerate digital transformation and migrate more applications to the cloud,” said Pascal Menezes, CTO, MEF.
